I recently watched a documentary about the birth of Motown and the men who were behind almost every hit from 1956 to 1972. The Funk Brothers. They were the musicians that played on the hits that still capture my heart. My Girl, Baby I Need Your Lovin, Baby Love etc. They were amazing musicians that backed up The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and any other soul/funk/motown singer there was. They always went uncredited but they were amazing. Anyone can sing, but it takes talent, determination, and love for your craft to continue on when no one knows your name and you are behind some of the biggest hits of all time.
Here I can express my love for writing but unless I am willing to be like the Funk Brothers, and continue when everyone and everything doesn't seem to be going my way, I can't call myself a true proficient of my craft. So here is my vow to continue what I love, even if it doesn't make me money but at least happy to do it.
Cheers to the remaining and past Funk Brothers and for everything they have accomplished.
